What is Broad Band Light?
The Sciton Broad Band Light is a pulsed light therapy treatment designed to produce younger and healthier looking skin. Broad Band Light provides consistent, visible improvement in the skin with no downtime, little discomfort and minimal risk.
What type of skin concerns are treated with Broad Band Light?
Rosacea Broad Band Light reduces the overall redness; flushing and tiny blood vessels associated with the condition and often improves the acne breakouts which are common.
Active Acne Broad Band Light employs three different modalities to address all acne issues: one filter kills the bacteria which live in your pores and cause acne, the second filter removes the red discoloration from active acne pimples, and the third modality clears the cystic acne. Please refer to the Acne treatment section for further details on this excellent triple combination therapy.
Sun damage to the face (photo-aging) Broad Band Light removes sun damage and reduces freckling and irregular blotchy brown pigmentation.
Sun damage to the chest and back (photo-aging) Photo Rejuvenation reduces the freckling and irregular blotchy pigmentation on your chest, back, and shoulders to correct sun damaged areas and improve the overall appearance of the skin due to excessive sun exposure.
Sun damage to the hands and arms (photo-aging, also called "age and liver spots") Photo Rejuvenation removes the freckling and irregular pigmentation to the hands and even the arms with improvement in the thin-skin appearance of sun damaged hands.
What should I expect at my Broad Band Light treatment?
The treated area will be cleaned of any lotions or makeup. Then a layer of cool numbing gel is applied to the face prior to the light pulse. Specific parameters are selected for each treatment depending on your skin evaluation, your skin type and characteristics, and extent of your skin damage to achieve optimal results. You will be lying comfortably while our licensed esthetician delivers a series of gentle pulses of special light to the skin, in a non invasive and safe manner. The procedure is typically very well tolerated with minimal discomfort.
How much downtime is involved after a Broad Band Light treatment?
This is a non-invasive and gentle procedure with virtually no down time. In most cases you will immediately be able to return to work, apply makeup and resume daily activities. We recommend that you avoid direct sun exposure and exposure to heat such as hot tubs. Immediately following the treatment, the skin may appear red and flushed and brown spots may appear darker for a short time. These changes gradually fade over a few hours to a few days as your skin heals. Make-up can be applied immediately following the procedure if necessary, so it is possible to return straight back to work.
When will I see results?
Even after your first treatment, your skin can look smoother and will have a more even skin tone. Improvement is gradual and will continue to be more visible after each treatment. Many individuals experience dramatic results only after 1-2 treatments; however, four to six treatments are recommended for optimal results. Some patients will benefit from additional yearly maintenance treatments.
During your complimentary consultation, our expert licensed estheticians at Laser Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation Center will thoroughly examine your skin and discuss with you what type of comprehensive skincare program will deliver the optimum results for you.
