BOTOX®Treatable ConditionssBOTOX® for Wrinkles & Forehead Lines Dynamic wrinkles are caused by contractions of the delicate underlying facial muscles every time you smile, laugh or frown. The more emotion you show, the deeper these wrinkles and lines are likely to be. While you may have earned every one of your smile lines, you don't have to show them anymore. Now, thanks to a new use for an approved drug, dynamic lines can be dramatically softened. The procedure known as cosmetic denervation uses BOTOX® injections to improve the appearance of forehead worry lines and frown lines, eye laugh lines and crow's feet or other dynamic wrinkles. Newer techniques even allow for gentle facial "shaping" around the mouth and eyes utilizing BOTOX®. BOTOX® blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines. BOTOX® relaxes the muscles so they do not contract. The contraction of the muscle is the culprit causing the wrinkles. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected. BOTOX® injections have been used safely and effectively for well over 10 years in aesthetics, and even longer for ophthalmological and neurological disorders. Each year, thousands of patients receive BOTOX® treatments for a variety of conditions including excessive sweating, and it is the #1 aesthetic treatment for treating dynamic wrinkles. Using tiny micro-needles, a very small amount of BOTOX® is injected, very precisely, into several locations on the face. How soon will I see a difference? You can expect to see results within days after your treatment. On average, patients see a marked improvement in the moderate to severe lines in about 3 – 7 days. Lines continue to improve for up to a month, and results can last for up to 4 months. Will I be able to make facial expressions? After treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic, you may look in the mirror and see a marked improvement. But BOTOX® Cosmetic will not radically change your facial appearance. It doesn't make you look like you've "had work done." The muscle activity is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised—without the wrinkles and creases.
BOTOX® for HyperhidrosisHyperhidrosis is a disorder characterized by excessive sweating that occurs in up to 1% of the population. The excessive sweating can occur in the hands, in the armpits, or in the feet. Although nobody understands the exact cause of this excessive sweating in specific individuals, it is known that the sweating is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system. Patients with hyperhidrosis have excessive sweating that hampers their activities of daily living. It is sometimes brought on by stress, emotion, or exercise, but can also occur spontaneously. Can BOTOX® Treatment Help Those With Hyperhidrosis? BOTOX® is FDA-approved for severe underarm sweating when topical agents don't work. Botox helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops. What is Treatment with BOTOX® like? The procedure is relatively straightforward. A small volume of BOTOX® solution is injected into the affected underarm area through a very fine needle. The needle is placed just under the skin, so you may experience some injection-related discomfort. You will receive multiple injections based on the assessment of the area that needs to be treated. What Should I Expect After I Have Received BOTOX®? You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within four weeks of your first treatment. There is a possibility that some sweat glands may be missed, and you may continue to experience some sweating from untreated areas. The TREATMENTDermal Fillers take about 15 to 30 minutes and the amount of discomfort depends on the sensitivity of the patient's skin. Lip enhancement can be uncomfortable; therefore patients are offered a nerve block prior to treatment to eliminate any pain. The product is injected just below the surface of the skin with a very fine needle. Patients may require a second visit to achieve full correction of the area. The body will eventually absorb the product, so ongoing treatments are necessary to maintain results, normally every 6-16 months. SIDE EFFECTSInjection related reactions may occur such as post treatment swelling, redness, pain, itchiness, bruising and tenderness at the injection site. These reaction resolve on their own within a few days. Patients should avoid aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, e.g. Advil, prior to treatment as they will increase the risk of bruising at the injection site.

What are the side effects of Juvéderm®? There are very few side effects with the use of Juvéderm®. You may experience temporary swelling, redness, pain, firmness and mild bruising. These side effects should subside within 3 to 7 days. Who should not have Juvéderm®?
How soon will I see a difference? You should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Most patients only need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing or lip enhancement. One treatment could smooth your lines and wrinkles or fill your lips for up to 1 year! How should I prepare for a Juvéderm® treatment? Prior to treatment, we recommend that you avoid any medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS), for at least a week prior to treatment to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site. What is Restylane®?Restylane® is a safe and effective product to replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin. It can smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth. Restylane® is administered quickly and easily, requires no downtime for healing, and the result is immediate making this one of the most popular non-surgical procedures. What are the side effects of having Restylane injection? You might experience slight redness, swelling, tenderness, itching and/or mild bruising following a Restylane treatment. This is the same as you might expect with any type of injection. However, the discomfort is temporary and generally disappears after a few days. Who should not have Restylane?
How soon will I see a difference? The results are immediate. Restylane can last up to 6 months or more in many patients. How should I prepare prior to a Restylane treatment? Prior to treatment, avoid using aspirin, ibuprofen, St. John's wort or high doses of Vitamin E supplements because this may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with your provider before treatment. Restylane does not require allergy skin testing.
